Joe does not go back to the doctor until his two month check-up on April 14th, but we wanted to know what he weighs now so we borrowed a baby scale from friends and all I can say is this boy is going to break my back!!!!!
After weighing in at 11 pounds 5 ounces two weeks ago - he is now 13 pounds 4 ounces. YIKES!!!!!
At this rate he will be over 15 pounds by his two month check-up which means 3-6 month clothing. :-)

Easter Sunday
Joe finished off a long weekend of Easter festivities, and being held by everyone but Mom and Dad, with a short break on the couch hanging out with his bunny and chick. We spent Sunday with Mike's family and Joe did a good job of sleeping most of the day. (Lucky for us he slept most of the night as well!)

Night time
For the past two nights, Joe has slept for 4.5-6 hours at a time which has been a complete blessing for us! I think the formula at night is helping to keep him full longer and that let's us get some sleep. Hopefully we will be at 6 hours every night soon- but any length of sleep is good right now.
We are getting ready for a long weekend full of Easter events, starting with church on Good Friday- thank goodness there is a crying room at church in case Joe decides he is not ready for the Stations of the Cross! :-)
Looking forward to posting pictures from Easter with all the families.

Daddy's looks
There are many babies that look just like one parent or the other, but I am not certain that I have ever seen a baby that was the EXACT twin of his father before now. Joe is the mirror image of Mike at one month old- as you can see from this picture. Unfortunately Joe was napping so I could not get the eyes open- which makes the resemblance even more noticeable!
Happy St. Patrick's Day

One month check up
Joe went last night for his one month check up at the doctor office. (I cannot believe he is a month old already!)
No one has been able to believe his weight gain- and only Beth's brother guessed right. :-)
He is a happy, healthy baby that has hit all of his developmental benchmarks already.
But the kicker is.......... He weighs 11 pounds 5 ounces! YIKES for mom and dad's arms!!!!

4 Generations.....
We traveled to Warren on Saturday to get taxes done and visit with Beth's family. The weather was horrible in SE MI even though is was sunny in Lansing when we left. Oh well- it was worth the trip to see everyone, and more importantly, let everyone catch up on time with Joe.
This picture is Great Grandma Laske, Grandma Lori, Beth, Joe and his cousin Isabella.
Trip to Grand Rapids
Joe and Beth ventured out to see the girls from work last Thursday. While it was cold, Joe did great on the ride over and back. And he even slept most of the day- being the angel baby he is
:-) We had a couple fussy periods that night, but nothing too bad! He was very excited to meet Jana, Tina, Jan, Pete, Eric and Dick and Betsy. He was so excited to see Betsy that he even left some drool on her suit..... YIKES!!!!!!!

First trip to Merrill
Joe took his first road trip to Merrill on Friday and stayed at Grandma and Grandpa DeShone's house for the weekend. But he had to wait until Sunday to FINALLY meet his Uncle Greg (Mike's brother). Cousin Emily has the golden touch when it comes to putting Joe to bed for the night - she had him fast asleep in no time and he stayed asleep for almost 5 hours!!!!! This picture is a great shot of 3 generations of DeShone men!
Friends visit
Beth's Aunt Dawn came to visit and brought a surprise with her - Cousin Stephanie and her daughter Samantha! It was a great visit and despite the horrible weather they drove through to get to Lansing- they were very excited to spend time with Joe. Samantha even made sure we payed enough attention to Joe when he cried by telling her mom to put "baby in chair"!
Irrational First Time Parent
So I decided to share this story despite my better judgement...... Joe passed his hearing test with flying colors at the hospital, so Mike and I did not worry too much until we got home and started getting deliveries at the house. Dexter has a habit of barking very loud when someone comes to the door- and his bark will scare ANYONE away!!!!
We got a wonderful cookie bouquet delivered from the Michigan Republican Party and Dexter went nuts when the guy was standing at the door. Well, Joe did not even budge with all the barking and commotion so Mike and I started to worry that something was wrong with his hearing. I got so worked up that I could hardly wait to get to the doctor the next morning.
Of course our wonderful pediatrician was very attentive to my irrational question as I asked about this issue and if we should worry that Joe was not hearing Dexter bark. Then he chuckled and explained that the hearing test is very accurate and that we should be counting our blessings as new parents since Joe was just used to hearing the barking and it was a good thing that he slept through the commotion.
Moral of the story- No question is too irrational for a doctor (So he told us!) but for any new parent reading this- don't work yourself into a panic if your little one sleeps through lots of noise- just be happy! :-)
