Cordless!
YAY- the umbilical cord fell off today so the bath tonight will be much less stressful for Mom and Dad! Joe finally gets to get wet all over and we don't have to worry about getting his belly wet. We thought it would never come off, but finally it is gone! Here's hoping that diaper changing will become faster too!
Grandma Lori visits
After a very long sickness, and not seeing Baby Joe since the day he was born - Grandma Lori (Beth's mom) came to visit for a couple days. Papa Lee brought Joe's cousin Brittany over on Saturday for a visit as well. Brittany is the one that drew all the pictures in Joe's room - we are very proud of her artistic abilities! Grandma could not get over how much Joe had grown in less than two weeks. We hope he doesn;t grow up too fast!

More family visits!

First sponge bath
Joe gets to come home
Grandma Lori bought this outfit for Joe to come home in. That pants were way to big, but certainly he will grow into them soon! It was a very long day at the hospital waiting to come home on Wednesday, but we finally got out of the hospital at 8PM. Once we got home, Dexter took to Joe right away. He wasn't sure what to think at first, but he become very protective right away!
Happy Birthday Cousin Deb
Joseph Michael DeShone is born!
We are so very happy that Joseph Michael entered the world on February 11, 2008 at 8:23AM. He was 7 pounds 14 ounces and 21 inches long. He gave mom and dad a bit of an anxiety attack since the first contraction came at 5AM and he was born 3.5 hours later! So to any mom that had a long and hard labor - SORRY! Mike made it through the delivery with a fever of 101 degrees and almost passed out from the heat in the room (not from the delivery). Needless to say, I think he got the bad end of the deal in this delivery since it went so fast.

The nursery is finally ready!!!!!
So Mike and I seemed to be the only ones that were not worried about the amount of time it was taking us to get the nursery done. But never fear, Mike did an amazing job with patching, sanding, painting and bringing furniture in so that the baby will have a place to sleep once it is born! Everyone that was worried can breath relief now.
We have a couple finishing touches still - like window coverings, vent covers and getting an oak coat hanger in the room (we are going to hang some of the blankets on it.) But having the room together is certainly making it much more real that we will be parents very soon!
The next post will probably be once the baby is here- since it had better be here within a few days. (Being 5 days from the due date- we are ready at any time.)

Dexter Days
Our "first child" Dexter (mind you he has four legs and the most adorable brown eyes) is really trying to figure out what is happening to his house these days. (Yes, it is his house, since he has ruled the roost for some time and has Mike and me more trained than we have him trained!)
All of the baby "clutter" has taken over the floor and a bedroom.... not to mention the tools and home repair products that come along with remodeling a few rooms in the house.
Needless to say, Dexter will be in for a VERY big surprise shortly with the upcoming arrival of the baby in his house. But we are confident that they will become best friends quickly and even made a bet that the baby's first word will be "Dexter"!
Setting this thing up!
So it seems that everyone has a blog these days, and I figured that there was no better reason to force us into the 21st Century than the upcoming delivery of our first child! Now I just need to learn how to post pictures and remember to write messages regularly so that it doesn't go to waste!
I am using the Super Bowl as an excuse to spend some time on the computer learning all about this blog - but of course I am watching the commercials. :-)
